New Celtic signing Beram Kayal backs teammates to bounce back from 3-0 Champions League defeat

NEW Bhoy Beram Kayal last night issued a rallying cry to his shell-shocked team-mates by insisting they can keep their Champions League dream alive.

The Israeli star, who was officially unveiled at Lennoxtown yesterday, is convinced Celts have the firepower to overcome a three-goal deficit against Braga at Parkhead on Wednesday.

Kayal knows it can be done, having been part of the Macabi Haifa side that pulled off Mission Impossible in the competition last season.

He said: “We were three goals down in the first half at home to Aktobe from Kazakhstan. There were people crying in the stands when we went off at the interval because they thought we’d blown our chance of reaching the group stage. But we came out in the second half and scored four times to win on aggregate.

“Everything is possible and nothing is impossible when you are playing in front of your own fans. And Celtic supporters know nothing is guaranteed in football.”

Kayal won’t be eligible to play in the return leg but the midfielder is making arrangements to go back to Israel and sort out the red tape surrounding his four-year deal so he can get back in time to witness history repeating itself.

He said: “Macabi wiped out a threegoal deficit in 45 minutes. Celtic have 90 minutes plus the possibility of extra-time and penalties to get what we want.”

Celtic boss Neil Lennon said he wanted the thunder back at Celtic Park. Kayal wants to see lightning strike twice.
